Why won't you just live?!

For Mother's Day I bought myself a vine plant to take care of- hoping that one day it would cover my whole living room like it does at my grandma's house.  I have great memories in my grandma's living room.. pretending I was in a secret garden.  I want that for my children.

I should have known better.  I don't know how to take care of plants.

When Paul and I first got married our next door neighbor gave me a huge plant that was so beautiful.  I took care of it the best I could.  It was on the verge of dying when we moved across country, and by the time we reached our destination it was toast.

But I love plants!!

Why is it that some of us do not have green thumbs?  I think I deserve one since I love plants.

Is it because I don't talk to my plants?  They're not getting enough "air vibrations"?

If I kill plants what the heck am I doing trying to grow a baby?!

  1. I can NOT keep a plant alive. I kill everything too. Both my parents have green thumbs and can grow anything. But a day with me and it's a done for. So don't feel bad.

  2. My thumb is BROWN! The only plant I can't kill, is the one that I actually TRIED to kill...a philadendron (I think that is how you spell it)...it just kept growing and growing and well...you get the picture...but the ones I want to live...their leaves curl up and they die. *sigh*

  4. Hi Gracie. I don't think of myself as having a green thumb but I do have 6 houseplants that are doing good. I have found many people give their plants too much water and it is vital that they get some daylight. I have mine sitting on a plant stand by a window. They let me know when they want a drink of water, I just look at their leaves, if they are droopy or starting to curl up it is time for a drink. I think you'll get the hang of it, if I can do it I know you can do it.
    Love you,
    Aunt Marcy

  5. Thanks Aunt Marcy. I am definitely going to try and just be more observant about whether they need a drink or not. We'll see how it goes!
